THE VERTICAL SOLITUDE
Rising from a jagged cliffside, The Coastal Tower is a singular vertical volume designed for extreme isolation. Its narrow footprint minimizes environmental impact on the sensitive coastal site, while its height allows for panoramic views of the Atlantic. The architecture is a bastion against the elements.
THE CLIFFSIDE MONOLITH
Constructed from locally sourced dark stone and reinforced glass, the tower features a continuous vertical slit that serves as a sundial throughout the day. The interior is a sequence of stacked, intimate chambers, each tailored to provide a different perspective of the sea and sky, fostering a deep sense of seclusion.
THE—MARITIME RESILIENCE
The exterior surfaces are designed to be weathered by the salt air, allowing the building to develop a unique patina over time. Every window is recessed to protect the glass from the wind, while the interior is lined with warm, insulating cork. The vertical circulation is a tight spiral that emphasizes the height of the structure.
THE ASCETIC LUXURY
Life in the tower is a return to essentials. The design eschews traditional domestic excess in favor of functional precision and curated views. It is a retreat for the solitary thinker, where the roar of the ocean is the only soundtrack and the changing tides dictate the rhythm of the day.
